Mineral Resources
At total of 79 kind of minerals are available in the State where as 58 minerals are produced on commercial scale. Rajasthan is the prime producer in production of zinc, wollastonite, garnet (gem), selenite and jasper.
Almost entire production of lead, silver, calcite, gypsum and amphibole variety of asbestos in the country is also solely accounted from the state. Besides, Rajasthan is the leading producer of ochre’s contributing for 94%, phosphate 93%, steatite 77%, ball clay 66%, fire clay 23%. State is also the second largest producer of fluorite 23%, feldspar 20%, copper 44% and silica sand 18% in the country.
Rajasthan has huge reserves of Cement Grade and SMS grade limestone.
Rajasthan is also emerging as fuel producing state with huge proven and potential reserves of lignite and petroleum.
The State has substantial reserves of different varieties of dimensional stones like marble, granite, sandstone and slate.
Many ceramic minerals are also produced in the state. These include clay, quartz, feldspar, wollastonite, quartzite, silica sand etc.
Rajasthan has largest potential belt for base metals and noble metals in the country, which extend over a length of about 650 km.
