MedicalThe State Government envisions development of advanced tertiary care with hi-tech facilities for diagnosis and treatment along with appropriate quality healthcare services at primary and secondary levels, supported and strengthened by strong in-built responsive referral services. The State has increased the Plan allocations several folds. Resources for such improvements are being generated through public private partnership. The Rajasthan Health System Development Project is responsible for augmenting the overall health care infrastructure.

Capacity Expansion: Efforts are being made to increase the bed space by adding new blocks and wards to hospitals. A referral hospital attached to RUHS, a 250-bedded hospital at Mansarovar, Jaipur, a separate OPD block and a Hospital Block for SMS hospital, Jaipur and a 500-bedded Hospital at Kota are some of the steps towards decongestion.

Outreach Programmes: Intensive efforts have been made to deliver medical services to the remote corners of the State through various programmes, inter alia, Swasthya Chetna Yatra, Doctor Apke Dwar, Charak Apke Dwar, Sanjivini programme.

Tele-medicine: In order to pass the benefits of recent advances in field of medicine to rural people, a Tele-medicine project in collaboration with ISRO to link Medical Colleges to District Hospitals, has been made operational.
Day Care Centres have been established in all medical colleges to provide chemotherapy to cancer patients, blood transfusion for hemophilia and thalasemia and dialysis patients.

Public Private Partnerships:
A successful attempt has been made towards public private partnership, inviting private sector to operate advanced diagnostics in teaching hospitals. The inherent objective is that PPP intervention shall ensure international standards in tertiary care while it can save a substantial amount to the exchequer and help divert towards primary care.

Medical Tourism
Cost-effective, quality medical care along with apparently no wait period, clubbed with heritage and hospitality of the colourful Rajasthan is a strong motivation for patients from within India and from abroad who are in need of super specialty medical care; especially advanced surgeries and dental care (including cosmetic dentistry). In this context, the Government had announced the 'Policy to Promote Private Investment in Health Care Facilities-2006'. Medical tourism is one of the stated priorities of the Government. The policy aims at making the State an attractive destination for the corporate sector, especially those who might be interested in setting up hospitals, nursing homes, and institutes of medical education.

Private Investment in Medical Sector
Fortis-Escorts has set up their multi-speciality hospital in Jaipur. Some of the best known names in the field of Healthcare in India such as Narayan Hrudayalaya, Fortis Health Care, Reliance Health Care, Bombay Hospital, Trinity Health Net, Geetanjali Foundation, and Manipal Group have shown their interest and intent with a cumulative investment of Rs.25000 million and many more are in the pipeline.
